After a full day’s training on 9 May, the research team set out to start data collection in Capri and Ocean View. We are very grateful for how friendly and welcoming residents have been, and how many have filled out our survey so far. Some of you have raised very valid questions that we realised we need to clarify – see updates to our FAQ page.
Almost finished in Capri, we have now expanded the work to Da Gama Park. If all goes to plan, you will start seeing us next week (22-27 May) around Zwaanswyk, Tokai, Forest Glade, Simon’s Town and Murdock Valley; the week after that (29 May-3 June) we’ll be in Constantia, Welcome Glen and Kommetjie. Please note that this is a tentative schedule – keen an eye on your local community and/or neighbourhood watch WhatsApp groups for more specific dates.
There has also been a minor change to the fieldworker team: Randall had other obligations and will no longer work with us, but luckily Rubin also joined our training as a backup fieldworker and will now join Jason, Akhona and Clair for the remaining time. Hoodies with the print below have also arrived, that the fieldworkers will wear when collecting data. Next time we have the whole team together we’ll take a new group photo.
