After almost four years of research in the Unruly Natures project, we’re inviting community members to join us for an evening where we share our research journey and approach with you.
Open, rigorous research
Since before the project started, filmmaker Odendaal Esterhuyse has followed the team as we designed, planned, and carried out the different research activities. This has resulted in a 30-minutes research film documenting our process – a peek ‘behind the scenes,’ capturing the research journey itself: what our goals were, what carrying out the different stages of our work looked like in the field, and why we chose this particular approach to studying human-baboon interactions across the Peninsula.
The film does not focus on baboons themselves, or go deep into the findings of the research. The main purpose is to help us be transparent about the work we do.
This evening is a chance for you to:
- Learn about our research approach and the methods we used
- Reflect with us on the research journey and what we learned along the way
- Ask questions about our work and approach
- Discuss what comes next as the project concludes
Who Should Come
This event is particularly relevant for residents of baboon-visited areas, as well as anyone interested in how research can contribute to conversations about urban wildlife management. Whether you’ve been involved with the project or are simply curious about what we’ve learned, you’re welcome to join us.
