As announced in a previous post, we are currently working with Empatheatre to hold a series of community meetings including a theatre performance and a facilitated dialogue. We are excited to announce that we will work with award-winning South African actor and playwright Andrew Buckland. He will star in what will be a small production that we can easily move between venues, so we can more easily visit different neighbourhoods during our one-week tour.

Because the South African general election has now been announced for 29 May, we have had to move dates for the tour: it will now take place 1-8 June. We are in the process of booking venues, and once this is done we will start sending out invites. While we would love to keep this open to anyone who is interested, our project currently only has a budget for a limited number of shows, and we will prioritise inviting people who participated in the survey. There might be room for more people to attend; if you would like to be added to a waitlist, please subscribe to our newsletter at the bottom of our landing page so you don’t miss our next blog post!
Lastly, we are very happy to see how much attention our last post received! Our report has been downloaded almost 250 times, and we have had more traffic on this website than at any time since it was launched, with over a thousand views – several dozens from outside of South Africa. We hope you all stay tuned for more news as we head towards an exciting June.
EDIT: We are aware that there is a comedy show about baboons happening in Simon’s Town on 23 March. This show has nothing to with our project.
Hi – I can’t find where to put my name down to attend the performance of Unruly on 4th June in Simonstown.
We are very sorry – the email sent out to survey participants today had a typo in it. That group will can sign up from today, while the general public can do so after 7 May.
Ok thanks….I still don’t see where to sign up for the play, but I am trusting my name will be added to the list!
If you took part in the survey in 2023, you will have received an email invite – reply to that email to sign up (it incorrectly said 7 April was the deadline – a correction has now been sent out with the correct date: 7 May.)
If you did not take the survey, you can sign up after 7 May on our website – we will post an update here under “News and Events”.
